Box Office Review
Christmas in the Clouds is a comedy with a romantic twist that relies on Native Americans for most of the action within the 96 minutes of film. This holiday themed movie was filmed in a Native American setting in the Sundance Resort in Utah. It has managed to create quite an impression upon its release, and as a result it was presented at the Sundance Festival for its unique indie quality.
Kate Montgomery is the director (and, at the same time, the writer) of Christmas in the Clouds, and has managed to unite a few different indigenous nations, as the story revolves around character with last names like Clouds on Fire or Little Hawk. The action starts in a struggling ski resort owned and managed by young Ray, a Native American of the Ute people. The manager is awaiting a visit from an anonymous critic that will make the difference in whether the resort survives or not and is able to have better success in the future, saving it.
Everything gets complicated when Ray’s father decides to invite a pen pal, a woman from New York to the resort at the same time. None of the two know what the person they are expecting looks like, which couldn’t lead to anything else than a case of mistaken identity. The viewers of Christmas in the Clouds can expect to see and appreciate a cocktail of nutty characters which make every moment of the film a true comedy, even thru its predictable nature.
The Christmas in the Clouds reviews from Box Office Magazine, specialty sites and movie critics seem to point out the enjoyment that can be found in the multitude of things going on, which means that no one stands still for a minute. This is probably what gives the comedy such an amusing twist.
