Christmas in the Clouds
Christmas in the Clouds is a comedy film from the year 2001, pinched with a few elements of romance and a whole lot of Christmas spirit and holiday cheer, making it a perfect movie to watch with the family in the holiday season.
The action is placed on a ski resort in the middle of winter, a ski resort belonging to a family of Native Americans. The main characters of the film are Ray Clouds on Fire and Joe Clouds on Fire, the son and the father, who are the owners of the resort.
The ski resort hasn’t been doing very well lately, so when Ray, the manager hears that a hotel-reviewing group is in the area and is about to send an anonymous critic to check out the establishment, he tries to get ready as well as he can. At the same time, his kooky father decides to invite a pen pal who he has never met to come to the resort for a vacation. Joe’s friend is a woman from New York, of Native American descent as well, named Tina Littlehawk.
With two new faces coming to the winter establishment, the movie turns into the perfect comedy as it deploys the classic method of mistaken identity in order to provoke laughter. The device works like a charm as the movie continues and everything becomes more complicated and less understandable for both Ray and his father. And as the ultimate stress level for Ray rises, the comedy goes on making viewers smile.
Apart from the original action, the movie also has Earl (played by graham Greene) as the chef of the ski resort, a vegetarian that decides to tell weird stories to the visitors about meat and the animals that are killed for food. The amusement tangles with the holiday feeling and makes for a very nice time.
